     i read in my books word of  energy derive from energeia.  

     we defined as about energy  The ability of a body to do work is called energy.

What is kinetic energy 

    we also discus about energy and kinetic energy is other form of energy.kinetic word is derived from Greek word kinesis meaning motion.

      The possessed by a body due to its motion is called kinetic energy.
        it is given by the formula.

what is Potential Energy

      The possessed by a body due to its potion in a 

the gravitational  potential energy is always determined relative to some arbitrary position whose value is considered zero potential energy.The Earth surface or a point at infinity from earth can be chosen as zero reference level of gravitational P.E.

Unit of energy

       Unit of energy is same as that work i.e Joule (Nm).
